We have all been challenged, and all of us have risen above and beyond to get through these past 3 years with COVID 19, isolations, masking, lonely family dinners, and the infamous toilet paper shortage. We have crawled our way thru unto the other side and life can’t be any busier.
Our members Lunch at the Pavilion was outstanding on a beautiful sunny day April 25th during tourism week Natalie Thiesen, our guest speaker from Tourism Winnipeg, outlined the multitude of wonderful events taking place in our city in the coming year. This coincided with SKAL tourism month and April 28th was SKAL World Tourism day.
Winnipeg is welcoming an exciting assortment of events one of which is the World Police and Fire Games, which will attract almost 8,000 athletes from around the world - and needs a lot of Volunteers, offer your help if you can.
We are one year away from 2024 NASC Congress taking place in Winnipeg May 2-5 and registrations are flowing in. Our promotion committee is preparing to travel to Mexico City next week to attend NASC 2023, Annie, Lynda, Trevor, Lorne and Denis. We wish you Safe Travels and Good Luck.

As you know, SKÅL Winnipeg is hosting NASC 2024 (North American SKAL Congress) on May 2-5. We were scheduled to host in 2020 and we all know what happened then, so now again we have a great opportunity to show off our city. As the Chair of the 2024 event and thinking about our event in just over a year, an update seems appropriate.
This year’s Congress is being held in Mexico City and four of our members Lorne Perrin, Lynda Gunter, Annie Henry, and Trevor Clearwater (Denis Smith is supporting, but also represents Skål Canada) are going to the Congress to promote 2024. The early bird registrations are already coming in, but our representatives attending will surely help increase our registrations, especially since there is a great prize offer for early bird registrations and not to forget about the great swag we are giving away. Tourism Winnipeg and Travel Manitoba kindly provided some great giveaway items, thank you!
For 2024, the planning has begun, and we have an action-packed itinerary planned. We hope that you -our members, will attend and volunteer to be our Ambassadors to welcome the other Skalleagues! You can view congress information on the 2024 NASC Congress WINNIPEG website (click here).
As the largest sporting event ever hosted in the Province of Manitoba, the 2023 World Police and Fire Games is an exciting and rewarding community-wide sports event that takes place from July 28 – August 6, 2023.
