President's
Remarks

Dear fellow  Skallegues,
We have now arrived at the summer break for our Club meetings.  If you have not attended the past couple of meetings, specifically the May Mystery Dinner Event and the June 28th Member Development meeting with the visitation of Marc Rheaume -President Skal Canada ...then you have missed some very good ones.   We thank Marc for making his way from Calgary to conduct the club visitation and also being a member of the industry panel.  Thanks are also extended to Dale Bruzell, Chair Social Committee for her work in arranging the events for these meetings.  I have received very favourable comments for the direction of our meetings.   Thanks is also extended to Lilian Tankard for moderating the Industry Panel discussion at our June dinner meeting.  The panel with Nick Hays, Pres. & CEO Winnipeg Airports Authority, Ryan Whibbs, Chair Hospitality & Culinary Arts Red River College Polytech, Marc Rheaume, President Skal Canada & Hotelier and Mark Fallis, Director Sales The Fort Garry representing the MB Hotel Association provided updates for their sectors and answered the formatted and ember questions .

So the Club takes a break over July & August and will return to our fall meetings on September 27th.   Enjoy your summer and we will see you in the fall.
Skål
President Skal Canada Conducts Club Visitation.

We were pleased to have Marc Rheaume travel from Calgary and join with us at the Member/Partner Dinner meeting on June 28th, 2022.  Marc addressed the Club and also participated in our Industry Panel.
President Marc addressed the Club and from his remarks one statement stood out:  "I have personally benefited from being a Skål Member, not only for the local club contacts & friendships, but also from the networking opportunity Nationally & Internationally."  Marc stated that a number of people join the organization but end up leaving without giving the time to benefit from the experiences.  You cannot expect to reap rewards within just a few months or year timeframe, you need to work and participate over a period of time to realize the full true value of being a member.

Industry Panel provides an update on their industry sector and answers questions of members & guests.

Moderated by Lilian Tankard, the industry panel was comprised of Nick Hays, President & CEO -Winnipeg Airports Authority, Ryan Whibbs, Chair Hospitality & Culinary Arts -Red River College Polytech, Marc Rheaume, President Skål Canada & hotelier and Mark Fallis, Director of Sales -The Fort Garry representing the Manitoba Hotel Association.

After each panel member provided an update on their industry sector, Lilian presented questions for the current state of our industry & environment.  Member & Guests participated with their own questions to panel members.
32 Members & Guests participated in our June dinner meeting at the Hyatt House Winnipeg South Outlet Collection.  After the introductions of guests and dinner service Marc Rheaume, President Skål Canada provided his address to the club followed by the industry panel moderated by Lilian Tankard.  President Tammy also presented Ryan Whibbs, RRC with his Membership Certificate. A number of members commented on a great meeting with good information!  It was an excellent way to end our monthly meetings for the summer break!
CHASE THE ACE!
Our Chase the Ace draw at our September 27th meeting will have 2 members draw from 42 cards. POT is $265.00.
