Rod Bruinooge
CEO and Film Commissioner (Interim) Manitoba Film & Music
Manitoba Film & Music’s Board of Directors has appointed Rod Bruinooge as the corporation’s
interim CEO & Film Commissioner.
“Rod has agreed to take on the interim CEO role while our Board goes through the process of selecting a permanent CEO for the organization,” says Dan Donahue, Chairperson, Manitoba Film & Music.
The appointment is significant in that it is the first time an Indigenous person has held the role of CEO
at the agency.
“I am going to do whatever I can to help the industry for the short period that I am here. We have an amazing staff that I will be supporting fully in their important work,” comments Bruinooge.
Bruinooge adds, “I have a great love for the film and music industries, having worked on both sides of the camera, and my film experience intersected with music when I worked with a major artist on a production in the early 2000s. I am very excited now to be promoting both sectors here in Manitoba.”
Rod Bruinooge was a Member of Parliament from 2006 to 2015 and held the role of Secretary for Indigenous Affairs. He is also a filmmaker and member of ACTRA. Bruinooge is replacing Rachel Rusen, who was recently appointed a provincial
court judge.
