Skål International Málaga-Costa del Sol brings together thirty consuls in Marbella
Skål International Málaga-Costa del Sol brings together thirty consuls in Marbella to recognise their historical contribution to the tourism sector in the province.
Representatives of all the Consular Corps in the province of Malaga are awarded during the ‘XXVI Gala del Importante del Turismo’ at the Hotel Gran Meliá Don Pepe.
Thirty representatives of the entire Consular Corps have received a tribute from the tourism sector in the province of Malaga for their historic contribution to the sector and the permanent support they provide to their compatriots, both residents and visitors of foreign origin, throughout the Costa del Sol. Skål International Málaga-Costa del Sol has chosen the Hotel Gran Meliá Don Pepe in Marbella to celebrate its XXVI Gala del Importante del Turismo and to award around 30 consuls in the presence of regional, provincial and town hall authorities.
The President of Skål International Málaga-Costa del Sol, José María Callejón, thanked the Secretary General for Tourism of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport of the Junta de Andalucía, Yolanda de Aguilar, for her presence and recalled that the group he represents on the Costa del Sol currently brings together more than 12,000 professionals and business people from the tourism sector from up to 85 different countries. "The origin of the Skål International association can be found in the Swedish word for health. A group of tourism professionals founded our association on 28 April 1934 in Paris. At that time there were 12 associations from five countries: France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Hungary and Switzerland", explains Callejón himself.
It is currently the global network with the largest number of tourism professionals and its objectives are to promote the tourism industry, business and friendship throughout the world. Since 1985, Skål International has been a member of the World Tourism Organisation, now renamed UN Tourism, and also collaborates with a multitude of world organisations linked to tourism and its sustainability. The General Secretariat of Skål International is located in Torremolinos, where it is organised and manages its global operations, but there are 11 other regional offices in Spain: Madrid, Barcelona, Cadiz, Ciudad Condal, Galicia, Granada, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Eastern Islands, Marbella, Seville and Tenerife.
